Sierra Leone is a country in West Africa. It is bordered by Guinea to the northeast, Liberia to the southeast, and the Atlantic Ocean to the southwest.

Sierra Leone has a tropical climate and a diverse environment which ranges from savannahs to tropical rainforests. 43% of Sierra Leone's land area is lowland plains. These plains consist of forests, bush, and farmland. The southern part of this area rain forests, plains, and farmland. Sierra Leone has two seasons which determine the agricultural cycle. There is a rainy season from May to November, and a dry season from December to May. Cool dry winds also blow in from the Sahara Desert at night. The nighttime temperature can drop as low as 16 degree Celsius, or 60.8 degrees Fahrenheit. Sierra Leone's average temperature is 26 degrees Celsius, or 78.8 degrees Fahrenheit. During the year, the temperature ranges from 26 degrees Celsius, or 78.8 degrees Fahrenheit to 36 degrees Celsius, or 96.8 degrees Fahrenheit.
